The revenue for Queen of the Valley Medical Center Foundation was $3,506,952, an increase of 29% over the previous year. Since FY2001, the Foundation raised Cumulative Gifts Booked and Letters of Intent in the amount of $39,270,632 against a goal of $27,441,839, exceeding its 10 year Cumulative Goal.

The Foundation began planning for another Capital Campaign and also hired a Fundraising Counsel who is preparing a Preliminary Case Statement. Interviews will occur in November of 2008. FY2008 involved the celebration of the Queen’s 50th Anniversary. Some of the highlights are:

Day for the Queen, August 17. 2007
This event includes a golf tournament, a tennis tournament, a fashion show and a barbecue. All activities are held at Silverado Resort and Spa. The event netted over $80,000 for an ortho/neuro surgical mapping system.

Christmas Tree Lighting, December 5, 2007
In early December, the Queen lights a 40 foot redwood tree located in front of the oldest building on the campus. This year about 500 community residents and employees attended the lighting ceremony. The tree was decorated all in gold for the Queen’s 50th year.    Top

Queen’s 50th Anniversary Gala, March 1, 2008
On March 1, 2008, a Gala was held at the Meritage Resort & Spa. The sold out audience was treated to a wonderful meal, silent auction, live auction and the Smothers Brothers. The event netted over $300,000. The proceeds were divided between two programs: 1) acquiring a PET/CT and 2) providing scholarships to patients enrolled in the Queen’s Cancer Wellness Program.  The Cancer Wellness Program supports cancer patients with a holistic program of medication management, stress counseling, exercise, spiritual counseling and nutrition education during the patient’s cancer treatment. These services are not reimbursed by insurance or government programs. “Fund a Need” was held during the live auction and raised $155,000, which will support 100 people a year.    Top

Circle of Friends, April 1, 2008
This annual reception was held in the caves at the Meritage Resort and Spa and featured a panel of people who were either employees or volunteers for the Queen when it opened on March 3, 1958. The event was well attended by donors who belong to the Queen’s Circle of Friends, our Annual Giving Club.    Top

Reach for the Stars, April 26, 2008
This event is a fashion show featuring Cancer Survivors as the models. Over 550 people attended the event held at Meritage Resort and Spa. This moving event raised another $40,000 (net) for the PET/CT Scanner.    Top

The 50th Anniversary Mass, May 21, 2008
A 50th Anniversary Mass was celebrated by Bishop Walsh in the courtyard of Queen of the Valley Medical Center. The Mass involved other area priests, the community and featured a choir composed of QVMC employees.    Top

The Queen’s Birthday Party, June 14, 2008
This event was held on the grounds of Queen of the Valley Medical Center. It was an amazing day that featured a Bike Ride, tours of the oldest building on campus, a Health and Wellness fair, tours of the newest version of the da Vinci Robotic Surgery System, food provided by local markets, and a Friends of the Foundation Wine Pavilion. In addition, seven Pastry Chefs from restaurants in the Napa Valley participated in a Birthday Cake contest. A panel of celebrity judges chose the winning cakes.

The Foundation distributed over $2,000,000 to the Medical Center to acquire two digital mammography machines, ten 12-lead EKG’s for use in local ambulances, a 4th arm for our da Vinci Robotic Surgical system and an electric car to transport breast center patients to other areas of the campus. The Foundation celebrated a milestone in FY2008 continuing to support our Mission.    Top
