Three Clinical Programs Receive 2007-08 AVATAR Awards
Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and Petaluma Valley Hospital comprise one of only three local hospital systems to win three patient satisfaction awards from national patient satisfaction monitoring organization AVATAR. The hospitals’ Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Pediatrics and Lynch Creek Imaging facilities were the clinical units earning this unprecedented acknowledgement.

eICU Helps Critical Care Patients Recover Faster
Now in use at both hospitals, eICU monitoring allowed Memorial and Petaluma Valley to improve the speed and accuracy of care delivered to critically ill and injured patients.

During the first nine months of Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital’s use of electronic ICU monitoring, the hospital achieved a 33% reduction in risk-adjusted hospital deaths of ICU patients compared to the baseline period.

This revolutionary telemedicine system allows an off-site physician specializing in intensive care to accurately monitor ICU patients from a remote location and advise on-site caregivers.

Heart and Vascular Institute
Construction of Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital's 3-story, $57 million Norma and Evert Person Heart & Vascular Institute was completed and patient care will begin in fall 2008. The opening marks a new level of excellence in cardiac and vascular care and research, building on a tradition of community-supported innovation in treating heart disease that began at Memorial Hospital in 1961.

The Heart & Vascular Institute brings all of Memorial's diagnostic and treatment services related to cardiac and vascular health into one state-of-the-art facility. Specialists in every branch of cardiac care will work collaboratively in a single location to accelerate diagnosis and treatment for every patient.

Hypothermia Blanket
The latest addition to our mix of cardiac services was made possible by donations to the Petaluma Valley Hospital Foundation. The “Hypothermia Blanket” safely lowers the body temperature of cardiac patients while they wait for care or receive state-of-the-art treatments. Lowered body temperature reduces potential complications and enhances the effectiveness of a wide range of highly effective procedures.

64 Slice CT
The latest addition to the Santa Rosa/Petaluma diagnostic capabilities is a Biograph 40. A combined CT and 40-slice PET scanner enables clinicians to simultaneously assess internal processes and structures. This unique capability increases the speed and accuracy of comprehensive diagnoses.  Top
